Renting DaVinci Resolve Studio Licenses

Before you rent a DaVinci Resolve Studio license, log in to the personal or organization profile that you would like the license to be linked to. Next, click the ‘license manager’ icon in the Blackmagic Cloud dashboard to open the ‘license manager’ page.

Renting a License

To rent a DaVinci Resolve license, click the ‘add’ button at the top right of the ‘license manager’ page.

Assigning Licenses

In a Blackmagic Cloud organization, licenses can be assigned to individual members or to a group by an organization owner or administrator. In a personal profile, licenses can be assigned to the profile owner.

To assign licenses in an organization:

In the ‘license manager’ page, click the ‘assign’ button.
In the ‘assign licenses’ window, enter the name of the Blackmagic Cloud group or the name of the organization member that you want to assign the licenses to. Click the assign button.

It’s worth noting that if you are assigning licenses to a Blackmagic Cloud group, you will need to have enough available licenses for all the group members. For example, if there are four group members, then you will need at least four available licenses.
Once licenses have been assigned, you can add new group members via the ‘settings’ page. New group members will automatically be assigned a license once purchased.

Logging in to DaVinci Resolve

Once a DaVinci Resolve Studio license has been assigned, it can be used to log in to DaVinci Resolve Studio. Each rental license allows DaVinci Resolve Studio to be activated on a single computer. More information on managing licenses, including moving licenses between computers is provided in the next section.

Managing Licenses

DaVinci Resolve Studio rental licenses can be unassigned from users or deactivated from connected computers in the ‘license manager’ page. Unassigning a license from a user means they will no longer be able to access DaVinci Resolve Studio using their cloud license. Deactivating a computer allows a user to remove their license from their current computer and then activate the same license on a different computer.

Unassigning Licenses

Unassigning licenses from an individual in a Blackmagic Cloud organization or from your personal profile is a slightly different process from unassigning licenses connected with a Blackmagic Cloud group.
